The first Heroes for Hope collaboration with YDI was a huge success. Engine 20 and Rescue 20 represented Albuquerque Fire Rescue. I had the honor of speaking with the young adults about my past. I used to try and hide my past. Once I realized all of the mistakes I made, trouble I got into and hardships were what FORGED me. Overcoming them is what gave me the strength and the character I need to do all that I do.

I shared my story, talked about goals, rules for success and taking action. We did a little workout and then had them handle the nozzle and spray water. This event is to give them Hope, I express that they are not their past and once they decide to make a change they will amaze themselves with what they can accomplish.

I am looking forward to future projects and events with YDI.
