The CPAT is the fitness standard across the nation for firefighters applying for the Fire Service. The pass rate for the CPAT is 50%. It is challenging, you must train appropriately. NMCPAT is the only licensed CPAT Proctor in New Mexico which also provides training to ensure success. Those that train with NMCPAT have a 95% pass rate.
Their is no where in the nation I could find that is doing a CPAT in full bunker gear on air. Albuquerue Fire Rescue will be the first. What I wanted to do is get more firefighters training in their gear and create something where we recognize and give credit to those that maintain a high level of fitness and able to perform above the standard whether they are 10, 15 or 20+ years in the Fire Service.
I want to recognize and give credit to Lieutenant Riley McMullan for stepping up to the challenge.
Riley performed and passed the CPAT In full bunker gear and on air. His dedication, work ethic, discipline and consistency is what makes this possible.
The CPAT should be a cool workout. If you need to train to get in shape for the CPAT you better step things up and maintain that fitness level if you want to be a firefighter.
If you are a Firefighter with over 10 years of service let me know if your interested in doing the CPAT on air.
