HEROES for HEROES is a special project to bring joy, encouragement and hope to the kids of UMH Children's Hospital. The message I convey is that they are our HEROES. Their strenght and courage motivates, inspires and recharges the HEROES. They are the HEROES for HEROES.

We will be visiting with a Firefighter, Police Officer, Spider-Man and Batman.

We do not wrap the gifts. We set up 3 tables; one for stuffed animals, one for misc. toys and one with sketchpads, notebooks, stickers, badges, fire helmets, capes and gemstone crosses.

The Kids are given a drawstring back pack and they get to pick which gifts they want.

It is amazing to watch the kids look at all of the options and being able to tell them pick 

whatever they want while they are trying not to take their eyes off the HEROES. It’s such a 

powerful event.

I talk to them about how some people can light up a room with their smile and how great 

they feel when they are around certain people. You get recharged. Some people can energize you and some people can drain your energy. This is when I reiterate that they are our HEROES and let them know all of the HEROES are here to give them a gift and to borrow some of their 

energy and strength to recharge. They are the ones that give strength to the HEROES. Their smiles, hugs, strength and courage give us the strength to do our best. 

They are the HEROES for HEROES.

Following the gathering with the group the HEROES will go to each individual room for the kids that are unable to leave their room. This event will have a powerful effect not only on 

the kids but on all involved and be a great opportunity to mentor and show the younger 

Firefighters and Police Officers what is possible when we collaborate and that we are 

capable of having a positive impact if we are willing to do the work.

HEROES for HEROES 2026 at UNMH are scheduled for April, August and December.
